National Safety Awards:
Shortlisting nearing completion
Short listing of applications received for the National Safety
Awards, evolved and sponsored by AVIVA NDB Insurance is nearing
completion and the presentation of awards for the safest workplaces is
scheduled to take place on October 21, in collaboration with the Labour
Department and the Employees Trust Fund Board. The awards scheme is part
of AVIVA NDB’s extensive corporate responsibility initiatives to
inculcate safety in the workplace.
A team of top safety professionals are in the process of carefully
validating the completed questionnaires submitted by the entrants
earlier this year.
This stringent process includes site visits in addition to meeting
various criteria.
This year an unprecedented number of corporate organizations are
vying for the prestigious award. Only 21 awards will be presented under
all island and sectoral categories.
The final presentation of awards is scheduled to be held in the
presence of a distinguished gathering of participants, corporate and
Government invitees.
The award scheme was launched in 1994 to encourage accident-free
workplaces and is held every two years. National Safety Awards has
become a coveted benchmark for organizations demonstrating their concern
for employees. From a business perspective, a safe workplace ultimately
results in high productivity, performance and profitability benefiting
the country as a whole. |
