Central Province have it easy

Central Province scored a massive 229 win over Northern Province in their Sri Lanka Cricket’s Under-17 inter-provincial cricket tournament match concluded at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium, Pallekele yesterday.

Central Province taking the first strike totalled 318 for 6 in their allotted 49 overs. Antonian schoolboy Kanishka Ranaraja top scored with a hard hit 78 which had 11 fours.

Rajan Sandun Weerakkody scored 61 with 10 fours and Antonian Manoj Sarathchandra made 76 with 12 fours.

Chasing a huge target of 319 to win in 49 overs Northern Province folded up for 89 in 24 overs. Trinity’s off-spinner Janishka Premasinghe was once again among the wickets taking 4 for 13.

Central Province Under-17: 318 for 6 in 49 overs (Ashan Wanigasekera 17, Sandun Weerakkody 61, Manoj Sarathchandra 76, Kanishka Ranaraja 78, Janishka Premasinghe 19 n.o, Waruna Wijesinghe 11 n.o, K Ragunathan 3 for 55).

Northern Province Under-17: 89 all out in 24 overs (N Priyashan 19, K Ragunathan 13, K Kasalan 13, Kanishka Ranaraja 2 for 29, Janishka Premasinghe 4 for 13, Rajitha Jayatunga 2 for 0).
