Wennappuwa Knights rally to win

Wennappuwa Knights produced a splendid second half rally to beat Colombo Bulls by 73 points to 48 points in their Carlton Cup 2010 inter club basketball tournament match worked off at the Depot Police courts in Bambalapitiya yesterday.

The winners enjoyed a slender 28-23 lead at half time but completely dominated the second half and went on to win the game by a convincing margin.

Malinda Fernando (24) and Gavin Cooray (18) led the way for Wennappuwa with their all round contributions while Anushka Vishwanath (9) and Kanishka Vishvanath (8) excelled for Colombo Bulls.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Police BC trounced Sri Lanka Air Force BC 78-44 in a one sided encounter after having led 48-27 at the half way mark.

M. Sujith (28) and Sanjeewa Kulawina (19) did the bulk of the scoring for Police BC while Ramnath Mendis (12) and Oshada Amarasinghe (9) figured in a vain effort for Air Force BC. (C.D)
