Passengers nabbed with narcotics

Officers of the Mirihana Police special crimes unit yesterday arrested 21 inbound passengers including three women trying to smuggle in narcotic and other drugs worth nearly Rs 5 million concealed among textiles and beedi leaves in their travel bags. The drugs included Bajah, Hans, Pan Para, said Inspector Roshan Anuruddha. The raid was conducted by a team led by ASP Nishantha de Zoysa following a tip off received by DIG Daya Samaraweera. The raid was conducted at the Exit Point of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

Inspector Anuruddha said interrogation of the suspects enabled police to detect an illicit facility producing the aphrodisiac named Babul utilizing the imported items. The suspects were due to be produced in Court.
