Joint approach to promote science education

The Education Ministry and the Arthur C. Clarke Center in Moratuwa
hope to work with a persistent co relation with each other from the next
school term onwards to promote science education in the country said,
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena.
He was addressing a ceremony to distribute 100 telescopes donated by
the Paris Headquarters of the UNESCO to selected schools over the
island. He said that, knowledge based strategy is chosen by the
President to build a new Sri Lanka with aimed development targets.
"There should be a qualitative improvement in the teaching method.
The education system must be capable of making a positive change of
attitudes and knowledge in our children. Building human resources armed
with wisdom, power and manners is our hope, he said. He also pointed out
that even though various equipment were distributed time to time to
various schools, there are occasions even the wrapping of these are not
removed by some schools.
"These should be properly used for their purpose. The students must
be allowed to make the best of them," he said.
