Life
Life, a tangly web, woven
With hopes, aspirations,
Expectations and longings.
Which uncertainty can repel.
In life there are the 'Tempests'
Also 'Mid-summer Night Dreams'
And life cannot be moulded 'As you like it',
From basements we may start
And reach the summits in life
But their stability is yet to perceive
For they can go down precipices
It is difficult to guage life's pathway,
We have to traverse through mountains,
Forests, plains, waters and deserts.
Wars of man and nature
Affright us immensely,
When they cease,
Wreckage left, is far worse
Sometimes, replaying may occur
Again fear and anxiety gleams
Till sinews and veins shrink.
Affliction in life are boundless
Agonizing memories arise,
Haunting you now and then
Loneliness, stress bring fatigue and despair
Affections turn dejections
Challenges torments you
What, then is life! Pray, not to be born!

Justice
To Surface the buried truth
Out of the lie
Festooned with
A fabricated cobwed
Known to me an entrapment
Harder to get out
Knowing that
Going to law
Is losing a cow
for the sake
Of a cat
Anyway fought
For justice
Tooth and nail
With a sense
Of courage
Law sometimes sleep
But never die
Anyway
Fathomed the words
That the death
Of the injustice
And the birth
Of the justice
Will occur
On the
Same day

For a just a man

To see the light
Through a tunnel vision
Hard to make
To see

The one who stayed behind
There were roses in your garden
And daisies at my door,
A crazy paving on your path
And rush mats on my floor.
We hid behind the crumbling walls
And blithely schemed our schemes,
You were my cherished childhood friend
The one who shared my dreams.
And hand in hand we wandered
On silver moonlit nights,
And played and dallied in the sun
And scaled our childhood heights.
We drifted into girlhood
On winged imaginings,
Secure within two loving homes
In our blossoming spiring.
And then you left for pasture new
To seek your fortunes bold,
And in my land I stayed behind
To wear a ring of gold.
Now time has flown on spreading wings
But childhood memories,
Are like the daisies at my door
Now I have children three.
I often think of you my friend,
And wonder what you do.
I am the one who stayed behind
And you're the one who flew!

Unforgettable thought
In the ghost darkness
Among the shrubs and trees
Terrifying sounds of wild beasts,
On the untrodden ground,
I lay still.
I felt the wetness,
Of the blood oozing out,
From the chest,
Of my beloved friend;
In the battlefield.
Tears rushed down my cheeks,
Unable to be spoken,
In the silent midnight,
Only sounds of guns.
And sparks of fire.
I took him on my lap,
When all deserted us;
Calmly kissed his forehead,
Smelt sweat and dust,
He held my palm tight.
His fingers started relaxing,
Air moving in and out of his mouth,
Couldn't see his face, in the dark,
But felt him breathing out,
And murmuring the last words
"Save Mother Lanka."
My heart nearly struck,
Mouth dry as chalk,
Wanted to shout and cry,
But the situation was bad,
Gunfires around and above all.
I felt his body cold,
With no breath at all,
Slowly closed his eyes,
Hugged him to my chest,
To say the last good-bye.

She.........
She is like a fresh stream of water
In the sunny desert
When I was crying in fear
It is only she who accompanied and gave me courage
To face the world bravely.
She is like meditation
In the deep hearts core
She heals my wounds
When I was lost in trouble
It is she who held my hand through the darkness
She is like the sun
Who never sets
She lit my world from the day I was born
Oh! What love she has for me
Her love cannot be explained in words
Dear mother, I will always seek for you
As the river flows to the ocean.
