Sangeetabimana: World Music concert
Tamasha, a company established for the promotion of Performing Arts
will present yet another classical music concert named Sangeetabimana, a
World Music concert at British School Auditorium, Colombo, on September
18.
The concert will be for invitees only. The presentation will be a mix
of Oriental and Western Music with instrumental, vocal and kathak dance
items. The artistes are all top performing professional from India and
Sri Lanka.
The main artistes who will take part in the concert are Pt. Sarathi
Chatterjee (vocalist-India), Harsha Makalande (pianist), Ravibandhu
Vidyapathi (percussion), Sashtrapathi Peshala Manoj (Tabla),
Shastrapathi Sangeet Nipun Asith Atapattu (voical), Thushari Bolukandage
(Jana Gee), Thanuja Ranaweera (Kathak dance), Gayan Kodituakku (drums)
Timal Jayamanna (Bass) and many others.
Tamasha was set up to provide opportunities to public interested in
Performing Arts to listen to and appreciate dance and musical
performances of highest quality. The company will in its endeavour
provide a platform for experienced erudite artists as well as for
accomplished up-coming young artistes.
During the past 10 years Tamasha has presented nine concerts for
public and invitees. Several recitals were with well-known Indian
Classical musicians. A limited number of seats could be allocated on
first come first serve basis to those who are interested to see this
event.
