Snatch thieves nabbed

Two people who were involved in snatching gold chains from women in the Panadura, Walana and Udumulla areas have been taken into custody by the Panadura Police.

One of the suspects was caught by the people in the Walana area on Thursday while snatching a gold neckless from a woman in Walana, Panadura. The people handed over the suspect to the Panadura Police who revealed that he together with another person were engaged in snatching gold chains from women using a motorcycle. The police found six gold chains worth over Rs 300,000 and the motorcycle used for the robberies.

According to police the two suspects had pawned most of the robbed chains at Moratuwa. Police recovered six chains from the pawning centre. The two suspects aged 20 and 27 are from the Moratuwa and Modara areas.

The suspects along with the motorcycle and six gold chains will be produced before the Panadura Courts. Panadura Police are investigating.
