Kid demands kidnapping ransom from father

A student who fled from a school hostel in Katugastota on September 10 night had telephoned his father pretending to be a kidnapper and demanded Rs 5 million to release his son on September 11.

The student had telephoned his father several hours later and said he had escaped from the kidnappers and was in Kandy.

The student questioned by the Police, said he had telephoned his father pretending to be a kidnapper.

He said he fled from the school hostel and had gone to Kataragama. He had given the first call from Kataragama demanding the ransom.

As he had found it difficult to stay in Kataragama he had gone to Kandy and made the second call.

Katugastota Police has severely warned the student and handed him over to his father.
