CIMA to deliver courses globally

Through Mobitel mLearning:

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel signed a strategic partnership with Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) recently. CIMA is the world’s largest and leading professional body of management accountants with 172,000 members and students in 168 countries and is committed to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards, and in maintaining public confidence in management accounting.

The partnership with Mobitel will now allow CIMA to reach further across the globe in allowing prospective students from any location to follow lessons delivered by world acclaimed Sri Lankan lecturers using Mobitel’s mLearning platform. Initially CIMA will offer courses to Students from The Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Middle Eastern courtiers using mLearning.

The innovation brought by Mobitel, is clearly a cutting edge vehicle for CIMA as a whole to provide world-class tuition across the globe. This definitely compliments CIMA’s very ambitious global growth objectives. Sri Lanka being the largest market outside the UK for CIMA, it is appropriate that such an initiative has come about and more significantly in partnership with an indigenous service provider. We are very happy to partner with Mobitel, to in effect, ‘e-export knowledge’ and place the Sri Lankan lecturers on the global resource radar’.

Mobitel first introduced this novel concept of teaching to the Sri Lankan education system in 2008 with the commencement of the first course offered via mLearning by Colombo University Graduate Studies Faculty. Those students have now graduated, and following its success, many more Faculties are now successfully using mLearning as a novel method of teaching. The future potential that mLearning provides education providers is immense as it breaks many traditional barriers and thus takes learning in Sri Lanka’s education system to new heights.
