Dimuth help Lanka A reach 105 /3
Opener Dimuth Karunaratne hit a fighting half century to help Sri
Lanka 'A' reach 105 for 3 in their first innings on the opening day of
their rain curtailed first unofficial four day Test match against
Pakistan 'A' which began at the Galle International Stadium yesterday.
Karunaratne struck eight boundaries during his 84 ball knock after
Pakistan 'A' had won the toss and elected to field.

Old Joes win a thriller
Old Joes BC edged out Carlton 'Blues' by 72 points to 70 points in a
thrilling Carlton Cup 2010 inter Club 'B' division basketball tournament
match worked off under lights at the Depot Police courts in
Bambalapitiya yesterday.
The scores were level 65 all at the completion of the regulation time
after Old Joes had built up a 37-30 lead at half time. In the extra five
minutes Old Joes piled up seven more points against their opponents'
five points to snatch the game in a spectacular manner.
In another 'B' division tournament fixture Old Cambrians BC outplayed
the National Youth Services Council 84-52 after leading 39-31 at half
time while Old Peterites BC trounced Red Caps BC 80-51 after having led
35-27 at half time.
Meanwhile Carlton BC had the better of Wennappuwa BC 59-55 in a 'A'
division tournament match after having led 32-25 at half time. (C.D).
Colombo Dist. Snooker begins
The Colombo District Snooker Championship will start on Saturday at
the Billiard and Snooker Head quarters tables.
This championship is the prelude to the all island championship will
be staged later. The Kady District and Gall District championships too
are expected to commence soon to find the finalists for the all island
championship.
BoC Indoor Games tomorrow
The Bank of Ceylon Inter Province Indoor Games Championship will
commence at 8.30 a.m. tomorrow at the BoC Branch at York Street,
Colombo.
Over 300 participants are expected to compete at this year's
championships. |
