Pay hike for wholesale and retail trade workers

Minimum salary scales of the employees in the wholesale and retail trade of the Labour Relations and Productivity Promotion Ministry have been increased by 20 percent from September 01, 2010, said a press release issued by the Ministry.

Accordingly basic minimum salary of telephone operators, clerks, typists, ledger clerks, accounts clerks, assistant cashiers, cost clerks, wages clerks, cash machine operators and bill clerks will be Rs 7,740. Billing clerks, salesmen, checking clerks basic salary will rise upto Rs 7,320. Labourers, shop employees, packers, messengers, counter employees, orderlies basic salary will be Rs 6,900, the press release stated.
