Sri Lanka 'A' win on D/L method

Sri Lanka 'A' kept their hopes alive of qualifying for the final pulling off a thrilling seven runs victory on the Duckworth and Lewis scoring method in their Tri Nation limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval in Colombo yesterday.

Sri Lanka 'A' finished on 238 for 9 in 48 overs when bad light halted play after Pakistan 'A' had piled up a challenging 241 for 6 from their 50 overs.

Opener Dimuth Karunaratne led the run chase with a splendid 106 from 115 deliveries inclusive of one six and nine boundaries. But it was all rounder Seekuge Prasanna's 17 ball 30 studded with two sixes and four boundaries that brought the home side closer towards their target.

Earlier middle order batsman Azad Shafiq hit a top score of 109 to help Pakistan 'A' reach 241 for 6 from 50 overs after they had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pakistan 'A': 241 for 6 in 50 overs (A. Shafiq 109 n.o, A. Sajjad 22, S. Ghani 35, S. Lakmal 2 for 43).

Sri Lanka 'A': (D. Karunaratne 106, S. Prasanna 30, M. Irfan 3 for 30, J. Khan 3 for 41, Y. Shah 2 for 32). CD
