SLTB to repair dilapidated buses

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has accelerated repairing dilapidated buses in all depots with the aim of putting them back on roads.

There are hundreds of SLTB buses abandoned in depots islandwide and they will be repaired with the intention of adding them to the fleet," a SLTB Spokesman told the Daily News.

The special unit was set up by the SLTB under the directives of Transport Minister Kumara Welgama to expedite the repairing of dilapidated buses in bus depots countrywide.

Accordingly, 27 dilapidated buses in Kataragama bus depot have already been repaired and added to the service.

Meanwhile, 30 dilapidated buses in the Mathugama bus depot have been identified for repairing. "They will be added to the operational fleet shortly once repairing is over," he said.
