Gangarama helps temples

Gangarama, Sri Jinaratana Road, Colombo 2, will provide Bath-rooms, Toilets, Urinals and water supply systems for 1,300 underprivileged Temples, at a cost of Rs 14 million.

This assistance will be donated after conducting an all-night Pirith Chanting at Kirivehera Kataragama and the offering of the morning alms to 1,300 venerable monks. The Donation Ceremony will take place towards the end of September. The Organization will provide assistance and enable village temples to obtain facilities.

Assistance for 1,000 Temples will be given by Thailand and assistance for 300 Temples has been received from devotees of Gangarama Viharaya.

Assistance will be provided by Associated Electricals Company Chairman Ajith Soysa and family members for 500 temples, in the Balapitiya area. Assistance for Temples in the Thihagoda Area, Matara, will be provided by Head of Sunil Motors, Sunil and family members. L H Piyasena and Children will provide assistance for Temples in the Naravelpita Area, Hakmana. Head of Navaloka Group of Companies H K Dharmadasa will provide assistance for Temples in Hambantota and Medamulana Areas. The Children of W D Fernando will provide assistance for Ambalangoda, Urumutta and Akuressa Area temples. Nihal Karunaratne, will provide assistance for Temples in Kurunegala and Gampaha. Asiri Wickremasinghe will provide assistance for Minuwangoda Area temples.
