Fonseka, Secretary to appear before HC on Sept 15

Colombo High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundare issued summons on two accused, Parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka and his secretary Senaka Haripriya Arnold de Silva to appear before court on September 15.

On that date the accused would be handed over the indictments in connection with harbouring of army deserters after the retirement of first accused Fonseka from the army.

The Attorney General had indicted Fonseka and his secretary for committing offences punishable under section 102, 113, 128 and 133 of the Penal Code. The two accused are charged with 41 counts in connection with harbouring army deserters during November 16, 2009 and January 27.

According to the indictment, the prosecution has listed 29 witness and and 41 items as productions.
