CIMA opens in Lahore, Pakistan

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants CIMA opened its second office in Pakistan, in response to the increasing demand for international finance professionals throughout the region, following the launch of its Karachi office in April 2009.

CIMA has experienced a growing demand for its qualification that it is expanding to Punjab to help develop the growing pool of young talent the region has to offer.

CIMA Regional Director South Asia and Middle East Bradley Emerson said, "With the demographic distribution in Pakistan where 50 percent of the population comes under the age of 20, we are convinced that Pakistan would be a source of talent for the future of economic development globally. The CIMA curriculum is developed through research with the involvement of top professionals globally which fits perfectly to fulfil the needs of the future labour market. Opening the Lahore office is yet another initiative by CIMA to provide the youth of Pakistan knowledge and skills to make them globally competitive.

This will also allow us to offer even greater support to our existing members and students who are rapidly growing in Pakistan." He said that as a leading global professional institute, CIMA offers an internationally recognized qualification in management accountancy and has seen 23 percent membership growth over the last five years. As Chief Executives increasingly turn to their Financial Directors to lead them out of the downturn, CIMA provides professional qualifications that are highly relevant to todays ever changing business world.

The CIMA qualification equips members to work anywhere in the world. It is the only international professional accountancy qualification with a syllabus that has a sole focus on the education and training of business leaders. Globally, 70 percent of CIMA members are employed by organizations with an annual turnover of Sterling Pounds 50 million or more.
