Foreign players for Air Force squash tourney
The Seventh Sri Lanka Air Force Open Squash Tournament sponsored and
organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force and in partnership with ‘Hayleys
Group of Companies’ will be held from August 21 to 28, 2010.
Sri Lanka Squash Federation (SLSF) has declared it to be a National
Ranking event.
The tournament will be held at the newly built Six Court Squash
Complex at Sri Lanka Air Force Base, Ratmalana.
The first ever SLAF Open Squash Tournament was conducted in 2001 to
mark the Golden Jubilee of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The second tournament received Ranking Status from the Sri Lanka
Squash Federation. The Federation has made this event an annual National
Ranking Tournament in view of the excellent squash courts and facilities
available at the Sri Lanka Air Force Sport Complex’ in Buller’s Road,
Katunayake, China Bay and now in SLAF Base, Ratmalana.
It is expected that all top ranked men, women, boys and girls would
participate and Sri Lanka Air Force has, as is customary, invited
players from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Malaysian Air Forces for
the Tournament.
This eight day tournament will consist of events which concludes men
and women’s open, men’s intermediate (over 35), masters over 45, 50,
boys and girls under 09, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 and a plate event for men’s
open losers in the first and second round and men’s and women’s Novices.
Open men’s and women’s winners and runners-up will receive cash awards
and all other winners and runners up will receive trophies and
certificates.
Entries should be handed over direct to the Sri Lanka Squash
Federation Secretariat at Tamil Union C and A Club on or before 5.00 pm
on August 16, 2010. The age cut off date will be as at August 28, 2010.
The finals will be worked out on August 28, 2010 from 1630 hrs onwards.
The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan
Goonethilake will grace the occasion and distribute the awards. |
