Raids nab kasippu, drug dealers

Twenty suspects including dealers of kasippu and other illicit drugs and those under arrest warrants were nabbed by the Dambulla police during raids conducted in areas surrounding the Dambulla Cricket Stadium recently.

Police said eight of the suspects were involved in the illicit liquor business while six were involved in the ganja trade. Another six had arrest warrants.

Over 1,000 litres of goda and 10 packets of ganja were seized from their possession.

Police investigations proved that some of them were involved in plying the trade to some of the cricket fans visiting the Dambulla stadium to watch the tri nation cricket tournament now in progress. Dambulla police are conducting investigations directed by OIC Chief Inspector Janith Weerasinghe under the supervision of SSP Tilak Abeygunawardene.
