Two JVP Pradeshiya Sabha members were arrested yesterday for allegedly threatening to kill a doctor and a group of people near the Udumulla Public Cemetery in Kolonnawa.

The two JVP PS members of Kotikawatta Mulleriya Pradeshiya Sabha Kuruwitaarachchilage Don Wimal Keerthiratna and G. Gunasinghe were arrested by Mulleriya Police following complaints lodged by the harassed party including Dr Athula Sumathipala, Police said. They were produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate who released them on cash bail of Rs 100,000 each, police said.

They have been charged with intimidation, harassment, unruly behavior and issuing death threats to civilians.
