Private healthcare industry to grow

The private heathcare industry in the country is expected to grow by
18 percent for the year 2010 and cosmetic surgery market is also
expected to grow remarkably during this year.
The Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC ,Chief Executive Officer, Lakith
Peiris said the Hospital Director Board has taken a policy decision to
increase the nurses cadre by 50 percent and 80 students have enrolled in
the Lanka Hospitals Nursing School for this year.
The seventh and eighth floors of Lanka Hospitals are to be
commissioned shortly.
Accordingly 40 rooms will be added to the eighth floor. A breast
clinic and a stroke clinic with other facilities will also be added to
the seventh floor.
Several international institutions have teamed up with Lanka
Hospitals in sending foreign patients to Sri Lanka. In addition, global
insurance companies have collaborated with Lanka Hospitals to provide
required facilities for patients.
The Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, Chief Financial Officer, Sampath
Hettiarachchi said Lanka Hospitals is the financially strongest hospital
in the country. Profits of Lanka Hospitals grew by 566 percent in 2010
compared to 2009. The revenue of the hospital rose by 15 percent in
2010. Share value also rose by 43 percent during the first half of 2010
compared to the corresponding period in 2009. |
