Three metre orchid

A three metre orchid has bloomed in the orchid section of the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.

This rare variety, botanically called Grammato Phyllum Speciosum and locally known as Giant Orchid could only be seen at the Gampaha and Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.

This is the first time the plant blossomed after six years of planting it. Large crowds are visiting the Peradeniya Gardens to view this rare flower.
