Prasanna, Chandrika win their pet events

Sri Lanka athletes Prasanna Sampath Amarasekera and Chandrika
Subashini stole the limelight on the third and final day of the 88th
Senior National Athletic Championships conducted by the Athletic
Association of Sri Lanka and worked off at the Mahinda Rajapaksa
International Sports Complex in Diyagama yesterday.
Amarasekera representing Track Masters SC produced a dazzling
performance to win his favourite event the men’s 400 metres in a
spectacular manner while Chandrika Subashini of Sri Lanka Army SC
clinched the women’s 400 metres event.
However no individual records were established from the 12 events
that were worked off on the final day.
The opening two days of course produced four new records in the
women’s pole vault, women’s 3000 metres, triple jump, men’s hammer throw
and women’s hammer throw.
The records were established by S. Ranasinghe (Air Force SC), W.l.K.
Dulakshi (Air Force SC), A.U.D. Linegedera (Army SC) and Janaki Galhena
(Army SC) respectively. |
