Army Commander visits Southern headquarters
Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, accompanied by
Army Seva Vanitha President Manjulika Jayasuriya visited Galle Area
Headquarters last Friday afternoon to review the ongoing security
measures in the area and to look into matters related to the troops
welfare.
The Army Commander on arrival at the Headquarters was received by
Southern Security Forces Commander Major General S.W.L. Daulagala, and
Galle Area Commander, Brigadier P. U. S. Vithanage.
Lieutenant General Jayasuriya later planted a Na sapling in the
Headquarters compound to mark his visit to the place.
He also inspected the new building to accommodate Medical students
recruited to the Army and following their courses at the Ruhunu
University Medical Faculty in Karapitiya and gave instructions to
improve its facilities further.
Major General S.W.L. Daulagala and Brigadier P.U.S. Vithanage
presented a comprehensive account of the security arrangements in place
and other community-oriented projects undertaken by the Army in the area
with special focus on continuing dengue eradicating program.
Lieutenant General Jayasuriya gave additional instructions to the
senior officers on measures that should be further improved. Senior
staff officers in the Area Headquarters were also present. |
