The skill levels of IT professionals are improving. Due to the three
decade war the country was lacking the opportunity to expand and IT
professionals to gain experience in the industry. However, those who are
engaged in the industry needs a better planned approach in training them
as they learn quickly, he said.
"There are not many planning and performance managing solution
developers in Sri Lanka. That is why we are very much a niche market.
Sri Lanka is an emerging market not mature as Australia. Therefore,
the industry has to explore further," Collins said.
The company has provided solutions to 95 percent of the public sector
departments. CAM Management invests two million Australian dollars per
annum in their operations in Sri Lanka. At present there are over 50
employees and the company expects to increase the capacity by another 25
in the near future.
The company operates globally where it caters its services to
countries such as Australia, New Zealand, North America and the UK.
He said that the combination of opportunity and previous work
experience in Sri Lanka was impressive to select the country as the
global service delivering centre. The IT logistics in the country are
commendable.
The employees are talented, hard working and quickly learning.
Another important advantage was the cost. The cost in Sri Lanka is low
compared to other countries in the region, Collins said. |
