SSC struggling at 27/4

SSC were struggling at 27 for 4 in reply to Ragama CC's first innings total of 297 runs on the opening day of their SLC Under 23 division one three day cricket tournament match which commenced at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Ragama CC: 297 (V. Perera 75, C. Rodrigo 45, D. de Silva 39, N. Vimukthi 36, S. Wickrema 5 for 95, S. Ramesh 2 for 66).

SSC: 27 for 4 (N. Premaratne 2 for 16).

Tamil Union well placed

Tamil Union were well placed at 67 for 1 in reply to Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC's first innings total of 230 runs on the opening day of their SLC Under 23 division one three-day cricket tournament match which began at Katunayake yesterday.

Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC: 230 (I. Athuraliya 63, A. Gafoor 49 n.o, N. Sasanka 38, L. Gamage 3 for 91, I. Udana 2 for 23, R. Maduranga 2 for 25).

Tamil Union: 67 for 1 (G. Weerasekera 32 n.o.).

Chilaw Marians on top

Seamer Umesh Karunaratne captured five wickets for 73 and opener Geeth Alwis hit a splendid half century as Chilaw Marians CC took first innings points over Sri Lanka Navy SC on the opening day of their SLC Under 23 division one three-day cricket tournament match which began at Welisara yesterday.

Navy SC: 171 (U. Jayasundera 75, V. Perera 20, U. Karunaratne 5 for 73, A. Janoda 4 for 24).

Chilaw Marians CC: 181 for 6 (G. Alwis 65, L. Weragala 32, B. Samarawickrema 26 n.o, D. Chandima 2 for 24).

Issanka wrecks Air Force

Spinner Ishika Issanka snapped up five wickets for 39 to help Moors SC dismiss Sri Lanka Air Force SC for 214 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Under 23 division one cricket tournament match which commenced at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 214 (C. de Silva 40, I. Gouse 33, R. Uthpala 32, I. Issanka 5 for 39).

Air Force SC: 61 for 2 (P. Samarasekera 30 n.o, S. Bulathgala 25 n.o)

NCC hit back

NCC after being bowled out for 140 runs hit back strongly to reduce their opponents BRC to 155 for 7 in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Under 23 division one cricket tournament match which began at Havelock Park yesterday.

NCC: 140 (H. Mawjood 54, R. Wijenayake 31, R. Perera 3 for 28, P. Jayasinghe 2 for 18)

BRC: 155 for 7 (M. Madushanka 32 n.o, Y. Abeykoon 28, A. Solomons 27,T. Ranasinghe 22 n.o, R. Laksiri 3 for 47, R. Wijenayake 2 for 50)
