Lethargic officers in Dengue eradication:

Final decision vested with people

The final decision on action to be taken against key public officers who do not lend support to the regional level dengue prevention campaign will be vested with the people of relevant areas, Highways Deputy Minister Mervyn Silva said.

"However, the trust placed by the people on me at the last General Election will never be broken irrespective of any future challenges," he added.

He was addressing the media yesterday to explain his controversial actions against those who failed to support the dengue eradication program in the Kelaniya electorate.

"I am bound to protect the people first. It should be given priority."

Human life is more precious than all others, Silva said.
