Navy arrests seven for illegal fishing
Naval troops attached to the Pallemunai Marshalling Point in the
North-Central Naval Area arrested four persons with their boat on
suspicion of illegal fishing using Gelignite in the Pallemunai area on
August 3.
Meanwhile, Naval troops attached to Naval Deployment
Baththalangunduwa in the North-Western Naval Area arrested three persons
engaged in illegal fishing using nylon nets in the Baththalangunduwa
Area on August 2. At Pallemunai eight diving masks, seven diving fins,
four hand nets and 100 grams of Gelignite were among the items arrested
with the suspects. The persons along with the items apprehended were
handed over to Mannar Police for further investigations.
At Baththalangunduwa, two FGDs used by them and two nylon nets in
their possession were apprehended along with the suspects. The arrested
persons and items were handed over to the Assistant Fisheries Director
Puttalam for legal proceedings. |
