HiCorp case:
Three accused including Fonseka indicted
Hiran H. Senewiratne
The Attorney General yesterday indicted before the Colombo High Court
three accused - Danuna Tilakaratne (son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka),
Randy de Hoedt (Danuna Tilakaratne’s manager) and General Sarath Fonseka
on 21 charges in connection with three transactions on the HiCorp deal.
When the case came up for hearing before High Court Judge Sunil
Rajapakse, Senior State Counsel Damith Thalwatha with State Counsel
Shamindra Wickrama told Court that the case should be continued even
without first accused Danuna Tilakaratne for the trial.
Attorney-at- Law Saliya Peiris appearing for General Fonseka said his
client will not appear before Court because there is a threat to his
life.
He is in the safe custody of the Army and supervised by Prison
Authorities.
Attorney-at-Law Nalin Dissanayake appearing for DeHoedt said his
client is not going to make any bail applications because they have
previously appealed against the Fort Magistrate’s order. The case was
put off to August 31.
