Dengue 'fight' begins in Dehiwela-Mt Lavinia MC area

A combined four-day dengue eradication program was launched by the
Health Ministry and the Youth Affairs Ministry from Dehiwela-Mt Lavinia
Municipal Council area yesterday. Around 300,000 youth from various
organizations will participate in this program, a Health Ministry
spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, a 'Dengue Oath' was read during the
program named as Dengue Nasamu - Rata Sanasamu (Destroy dengue - heel
the country). The youth and the Ministers visited families who had lost
family members due to dengue.
Minister Sirisena said it is the responsibility of all to eradicate
dengue from Sri Lanka. He said the Malaria Control Department will be
reopened and renamed as the Dengue Control Department while introducing
rules and regulations.
Dehiwela-Mt Lavinia Mayoress Sunethra Ranasinghe was also present. |
