Two schoolgirls who were abducted in a van by an unidentified gang at Hatton on the morning of August 2 escaped from the custody of abductors while they were being taken through a jungle road at Sinhapitiya, Gampola.

On a tip off, the Gampola police saved the girls and admitted them to the Gampola Teaching Hospital where it was revealed that they hand sustained minor injuries.

At the investigation the victim girls said that they were abducted by the gong in a van with the help of an old lady and after using a substance to drug them.
