A body of a German national was found at his residence in Obadawatte, Bentota on Tuesday night. The cause of the death is not known, Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said.

He said acting on information provided by a relative of the deceased, police found a body of a German citizen aged 63 known as Norbert Celsine at his house in the Bentota area around 8 p.m.

The deceased was living in Sri Lanka for several years. “It was reported that the deceased fell down from the staircase and died. However, the cause of death is not yet known. The postmortem was held yesterday at the Bentota Hospital”, he added.

SP Jayakody said a special police team was deployed to conduct investigations.
