Air Force unearth explosives, cache of arms

Air Force troops unearthed over 300kg of high explosives and a cache
of arms and ammunition on information provided by an ex-LTTE cadre in
Iranapalai and Puthukudiyiruppu Monday.
Air Force Spokesman Group Captain Janaka Nanayakkara said following a
tip off given by a rehabilitated ex-LTTEer, the Air Force Intelligence
Unit uncovered a haul of arms and ammunition along with different types
of high explosives in the Puthukudiyiruppu area.
He said the Air Force recovered 750 of 32 x 7.62mm ammunition, two of
120 mm mortar bombs,eight of 81mm mortar smoke bombs, four 81mm mortar
bombs, three of 60mm mortar bombs, five of LTTE made air craft bombs,
six of 40mm RPG bomb, two of hand grenades, two of 120mm mortar fuses,
two of LTTE made 40mm mortars, 50 of pressure switches , 49 of pressure
release and three of instantaneous fuse 70m rolls in the Iranapalai
area.
Meanwhile, the Air Force Intelligence Unit unearthed explosives and
ammunition in the Puthukudiyiruppu area. They have uncovered 100kg of
C-4 explosives, 90kg of RDX explosives, 25kg of low explosives, 100kg of
propellant tube form explosives, 14 claymore mines, three anti tank
mine, 11 of 81 mm mortar smoke bombs, ten of 81mm mortar incendiary
bombs, 20 of 81mm mortar trapping bombs, 15 of 40mm RPG bombs, 8,090 of
7.62 x MPMG ammunition, 1,500 of 7.62 x 212 ammunition, 96 0f 14mm
ammunition, two of LTTE made hand grenade, an LTTE made rocket Bomb, 28
of pressure switches, 29 of pressure release switches and 500g of gun
powder.
