New Puttalam bus terminal opens today

A new bus terminal with a variety of facilities constructed at a cost
of Rs 100 million will be opened in Puttalam today.
Hambantota District MP Namal Rajapaksa and Transport Deputy Minister
Rohana Kumara Dissanayake will open the new bus terminal. A Transport
Ministry Spokesman said that revenue from rents and rates collected from
shops owned by the Puttalam Urban Council has been used to construct the
new bus terminal.
"The new bus terminal comprises 136 shops, reception hall and an
auditorium will be converted into a major business center in Sri Lanka,"
he further said.
He said that the new terminal has space for 150 buses. It was
designed to provide the maximum comfort to commuters. The bus terminal
building can also be used as a meeting place for commuters, shoppers,
and students.
North Western Province Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe and Puttalam
Urban Council Chairman M.N. Nasmy will also participate at the event.
