Token strike threat

If Higher Education Minister S.B.Dissanayake fails to issue a circular regarding the university lecturer's salary hike before July 26,we will launch a token strike on July 27, Federation of University Teacher's Associations,President,Prof.Sampath Amarathunge told the Daily News. We are fed up with written and verbal promises. Frankly we are happy and grateful to Minister because he has understood our problems.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa also earlier identified our salary problems said Amarathunge.

FUTA is not a quarrelling union. We like to work closely with the Higher Education Ministry.

The Higher Education Minister should issue a circular and then there is the legal background, otherwise, we are going to launch an islandwide token strike on July 27 as discussed earlier.
