Govt to control chicken prices

Co-operative and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando said the Government will control the price of chicken if it is sold exceeding controlled prices.

The Minister said imported chicken will be made available in the market through Lak Sathosa and Co-op Food cities if the prices of chicken is increased or if suppliers are unable to supply the required quantity.

Addressing Samastha Lanka Kukulu Viyaparikayange Sangamaya members the Minister said, the Government heeded a request by producers not to import chicken.
