Turnover remains high

Turnover at the Colombo Stock Exchange remained high as interest was seen in large cap and mid cap stocks. The total turnover for yesterday was Rs 2.7 billion with John Keells Holdings accounting for Rs 529 million in business.

The share gained another Rs 3.75 to close at Rs 224.25. JKH subsidiary John Keells Hotels gained Rs 2.25 to close at Rs 22.25 on business of Rs 139 million.

Dankotuwa Porcelain continued to gain Rs 2.50 to finish off at Rs 58.50 on business of Rs 297.

In corporate news, John Keells, the services sector arm of JKH announced a two (2) for one (1) split. The share closed up by Rs 36.50 to end at Rs 296.50. The share touched Rs 300.00 for the day as just 3,600 shares traded for the day. The announcement was made after market closed for the day.
