Rise in tea production this year
There was a significant growth in the total tea production from
January to June 2010.
Total tea production in Sri Lanka in June 2010 rose to 29,508,543 kg
as against the corresponding month in 2009 recording an increase of
4,594,983 kg or 18.4 percent. Total tea production during June 2009 was
24,913,551 kg.
The Sri Lanka Tea Board said the total tea production from January to
June 2010 recorded 166,880,494 kg as against 132,249,170 kg produced
during the same period in 2009. This is an increase of 34,631,324 kg or
26.2 percent. Orthodox (including BIO, Instant, Reclaimed tea, Orthodox/CTC)
recorded 156,094,865.87 kg from January to June in 2010 while CTC tea
production was 9,188,959.50 kg during the corresponding period.
Total green tea production was 1,596,668.10 kg from January to June
in 2010.
Total tea production (high) was 41,168,860.47 kg during the period
January to June in 2010 while Total tea production (medium) recorded
29,012,781.50 kg during the same period. IH |
