Costly ride for motorcyclist

Panadura Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake imposed a Rs 1,000 fine on a
motorcycle rider who pleaded guilty to carrying two people on the
pillion.
Lakshman Perera was produced before Court by Panadura Police Traffic
Branch.
According to the Motor Traffic Ordinance, only the rider and the
pillion rider can travel on a motorcycle on a public road.
Meanwhile, Panadura Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake imposed a Rs 100,000
fine on Mohammed Idroz who pleaded guilty to possessing 200 cigarettes
imported to the country without paying custom duty.
The accused admitted to two similar convictions.
