IUPAC and UNESCO declare 2011 as Year of Chemistry
The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and
UNESCO to celebrate the achievements of chemistry and its contributions
to the well-being of humankind. IUPAC has resolved that the year 2011 be
declared as the International Year of Chemistry.
The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon has accepted the invitation to
promote and celebrate the Chemistry and Chemical sciences advances and
has established a National Secretariat at its Institute Adamantane House
in Rajagiriya. A commemorative stamp and coin will be issued in 2011 to
mark IYC 2011. The pre-publicity events will include a Chemistry
Exhibition, highlighting the user applications of the wonders of
chemistry in the society at all levels at BMICH from January 27-30
January next year.
