AG indicts Sarath Fonseka, two others

The Attorney General yesterday indicted General Sarath Fonseka and two others with regard to 21 charges on the Hicorp military procurement issue, before the Colombo High Court yesterday.

In this case the first accused Danuna Tilakaratne son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka has been indicted on two charges. All accused including Danuna Tilakaratne, Wellington T Dehoedt and the third accused General Fonseka were indicted on 19 charges before the High Court.

The second accused had allegedly produced fraudulent documents without any authority and agreed to supply 30 generators and 250 compasses.

But they had only supplied 234 compasses to the Army.

This case was earlier heard by the Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate who granted bail with sureties to one of the relations of Danuna Tilakaratne, son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka when he was produced before Court by the Criminal Investigation Department.

Having indicted, the AG has transfered to the case to the Colombo High Court for hearing.

During this period General Sarath Fonseka has also approved some transactions as the Army Commander.
