IDB help to revive sick industries

The Industrial Development Board (IDB) has launched a rehabilitation project titled Punarjeewa to assist the SME sector industries in trouble islandwide. IDB Regional Development Director, U.Wimalasuriya told the Daily News Business that all SME sector industrialists who are running at a loss or with difficulties have been informed to report to their respective IDB district offices with the details and problems they are facing.

Land sales booming now

The land sale industry is booming as commercial banks have reduced interest rates. Many are now interested in buying lands as an investment. The average land prices in Colombo city limit are Rs 2.5 million per perch and they are mostly used for commercial purposes.

Lanka Tiles posts Rs 379 m profit for ’10

Lanka Tiles has recorded Rs 379 million profit after tax for 2009/2010 financial year. This is an increase of 34 percent and the highest recorded in the company history its annual report said. Export sales of the company have increased 20.55 percent to Rs 216 million for the year ended March 31, 2010. It was Rs 179 million during the same period in 2009.
