SLTB fleet to increase
The Sri Lanka Transport Board has planned to buy 500 more buses this
year.
According to SLTB Chairman M. D. Bandusena they are to be purchased
from Ashok and Tata bus companies with the consent of the Transport
Ministry.
SLTB bought buses with funds from the Treasury earlier. This time the
SLTB itself is allocating funds for the purpose.
Most of them are expected to be put on long distance routes where
buses are not operated, he said. The operational SLTB fleet of buses at
the moment is over 4,500 and it is to be increased to 6,000 prior to the
turn of this year Chairman M. D. Bandusena told the Daily News.
