Dasasil Mathas receive higher ordination

Two foreign Dasasil Mathas from Canada and Australia and two Sri Lankan Dasasil Mathas will receive higher ordination, at the Horana, Kahatapitiya, Dekkanduwala, Dhamma Training Center on June 26, Buddhist Cultural Center Director Ven Kirama Wimalajothi Thera said. Presently, there are about 3,000 Dasasil Mathas in the country. Nearly 700 Bhikkunis who had received higher ordination are also there at present.

However there are many problems confronting the Bhikkunis, such as not having enough facilities to learn and practise the Vinaya discipline, the Ven Thera said. Sixteen years ago 10 Dasasil Mathas of our country received high ordination, under Ven. Innamaluwe Sumangala Nayake Thera, at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Buddhagaya, India.

From that day Dekanduwala Dhamma Training Centre is functioning continuously the Ven Thera said.
