People will question Opposition’s role - Ranil

We have to discuss the main problems of our country. If we don’t do it the public would question the role of the Opposition, UNP and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said.

“If other political parties take up the major problems they will take our place in the country. It is two months since the General Election. We have to go to the masses and create an agitation against the things that the Government has done,” he said addressing Opposition Leaders of Provincial Councils in Kandy, Thursday.

Wickremesinghe said in all political parties there are differences of opinion about the party constitution, policies and even basics. There cannot be consensus among all persons always.

“When I am blamed I think whether I should reply such people or be patient and silent. If we are patient the malefic things will go away. All problems have solutions if one has the strength to keep smiling”.

UNP Chairman Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake were also present.
