Vocational training for disabled children

The Social Services Department spends Rs 50 million annually to provide vocational training to disabled children, Social Service Department Director Hemachandra Hewage told the Daily News.

There are around 700 children undergoing vocational training at five training centres. Training on computer education, weaving, tanning, carpentry and masonry. Nine Non Government Organizations also provide vocational training to disabled children, he said.

After training, each child will be given a tool kit by the Department to earn his/ her living, he said.
