SAARC Interior Affairs Ministers Forum begins today

Public Management and Reforms Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka yesterday left for Pakistan to attend the third forum of Interior Affairs Ministers of SAARC countries. The forum begins in Islamabad today.

This meeting will focus on a range of issues discussed at the SAARC Heads of State level in Colombo and Thimpu. According to Public Management and Reforms Ministry sources, the forum will emphasis on co-operation in the field of combatting terrorism, trafficking of women and children in SAARC member countries. They will also discuss how cooperation among law enforcement authorities and Emmigration and Immigration officers in SAARC countries could be enhanced.

Minister Wickramanayaka is expected to meet Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani during his stay in Islamabad.
