It was built in 1976 under the guidance of Ebert Silva. This hotel is
located on a scenic hill top bearing the names of two gems; Topaz and
Tourmaline overlooking the beautiful city of Kandy.
This hotel belongs to Mclarens, which owns several top class
properties in the island. It is such an attractive place that a tourist
who visits this hotel will fall in love with it. It is a resting place
where one can fully enjoy the pleasures boasted by nature. The
uniqueness of this hotel, is its location. From this hill top one can
see the most important places in the Kandyan City as well as a series of
beautiful hill tops , such as Hantana, Hunnasgiriya, knuckles and bible
hill.
The hotel has introduced a comfortable transport service free of
charge to the tourists coming to the hotel from Kandy railway station
and bus stand.
The hotel has around 200 staff who are well trained in the
hospitality industry. The roof top restaurant is an ideal place to have
a sumptious meal while observing while observing beautiful locations in
the Kandyan City. The hotel is equipped with barbecue night club and a
spar Ayurvedic centre. There are two big halls which can cater to
weddings and conferences. It is in heavy demand from the private as well
as public sector.
The hotel complex has been fully refurbished, and was open to the
public in June 1. The hotel is under the management of Anura Basnayake
who is the Co managing director of the Mclarens hotel industry. He is an
expert in the hospitality industry and has introduced a series of novel
features.
According to Basnayake this hotel has broadened it facilities in such
a way that one can expect the kind of service usually available at five
