Regional trade integration which opens doors for countries to share
and benchmark expertise and technology, will enable them to go for mass
production, explore bigger markets and have economies of scale in
production.
Indian Trade Fair 2010 which is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in
August this year would be a timely event to cater to this need.
The Indian Trade Fair will showcase over 160 exhibitors from all
parts of India in sectors ranging from agriculture, fisheries,
plantations, manufacturing, engineering and construction, power and
energy, tourism , health care , ICT, banking and finance and education
services. An investor forum will be held simultaneously with the trade
fair.
Topics of great importance to businessmen and investors such as
sustainable business, role of stake holders and Indian perspective
towards sustainable business will be covered in this forum which will
run for two days parallel to the fair, Consultant International affairs
FCCISL Roshen Weeraratne said.
"This is purely a B2B trade fair. The objective is to create business
linkages and business opportunities. We will encourage Indian
businessmen to have strategic tie-ups such as collaborations and joint
ventures with their Sri Lankan counterparts. FCCISL will also act as a
regulator to have a control over penetration into Sri Lankan marketplace
by foreign investors," Weeraratne said.
The Indian Trade Fair is being held for the eighth year. India has
been in the forefront of technological development in the region. Sri
Lanka is tagged as the emerging business hub of Asia and investors in
the region have shown great keenness in setting up their businesses
here.
