New strategies needed for productivity enhancement

Dr. Saman Kelegama

Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are key components for the growth of a company. Adopting sustainability practices and CSR will help to improve profitability and social acceptance of the corporate body.

Institute of Policy Studies Executive Director Dr. Saman Kelegama said that corporate sector should take sustainability very seriously in order to deliver high rewards for people and the company.

He made these views addressing a seminar on "Best Corporate Citizen Award 2010' for CSR and Sustainable business. He said all companies should pay attention to adopt new strategies to gain advanced productivity with higher employee satisfaction. It is the responsibility of companies to focus their attention on the future generation while meeting the present demands of customers.

It is essential to achieve green building standards for corporate sector by reducing the emissions of toxic gases, adopting new measures to conserve water and energy resources in the country. Good governance is vital component for the sustainability of the organization.

Apart from that, ensuring the transparency and accountability of the organization will assist in achieving their business targets.

Accordingly, all communities that a company interact with will be able to reap the benefits from its operations.
